A refined, enjoyable and relaxing holiday: in a word, a “gourmet” holiday, as defined by the owners of this corner of paradise.  The owners have been for years some of the biggest and best known producers of fine Sicilian wines.  In the last few years, thanks to the owners of Planeta, Sicily has gained the role of “prima donna” in the wine world.  The Planeta “Foresteria” lies in the sunny countryside of Menfi, very close to the splendid and unspoilt sea of Porto Palo in the deep south of the island.  Devoted to hospitality, cooking, wine and the environs, it is an ideal place for whoever wants to savour the delights of an ancient, warm and hospitable land, which will give you unforgettable moments, a real journey of the senses that will touch your heart.

With fourteen suites each with a private terrace and a view over the vineyards and the sea, the Planeta resort will provide you with everything you need or want: a spectacular swimming pool with a view of the sunset, a Turkish bath, a gymnasium, large gardens with medicinal plants, a kitchen where the chef prepares dishes with high-quality, typical products from the area, cosy corners where you can relax and spend your free time reading.  The Planeta resort gives you a warm and attentive welcome and, of course, you will be able to enjoy the sublime wines produced by the Planeta family.

The area of Menfi, in the province of Agrigento, is famous for its production of fine table-wine grapes.  After a walk among the rows of grapevines, you must visit the sixteenth century baglio that hosts the cellars of Ulmo in Sambuca di Sicilia.  Then you should go for a walk along one of the “La Segreta” nature trails. You can also enjoy guided, or non-guided, tours to the nearby archeological park of Selinunte, to the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, to the Salt Pans of Trapani and Paceco, the medieval town of Erice, to the archeological site of Segesta, to the museum of the Dancing Satyr in Mazzara del Vallo.  For those who love the sea, there is a lido at Porto Palo reserved for the guests, or there is a vast and wild beach in the area for those who love solitude.

On request it is possible to buy wines and extra virgin olive oil produced by the Planeta firm and Planeta Estate gadgets.  It is also possible to organize home delivery.

You can enjoy walking among the vineyards and olive groves, tasting wine and visiting the cellars, beaches with all the best facilities at Porto Palo in Menfi, and visits to the most characteristic places in the area.  Cooking courses on request include: practical demonstrations – pasta and sweets – four hours of lessons from 9:00am to 1:00pm followed by a five-course lunch.  The course includes a theoretical part, which explains the use of ingredients, where you can find them, and the history of these recipes.  There is also a practical part in which the participants can prepare the recipes by themselves.  The course costs €60.00 for one person + €35.00 for the ingredients.  The theoretical demonstration consists of two hours of lessons in the morning or afternoon followed by lunch or evening meal.  The theoretical part explains how to use the ingredients and the participants will be able to watch the preparation of some dishes that will be served for lunch or the evening meal.  The course costs €30 for one person + €35 for the ingredients.  Individual demonstrations on request.  These demonstrations are an unforgettable experience for anyone who wants to discover the secrets and flavours of Sicilian cuisine.  Any requested theme must be agreed by the chef.
