This important historical villa in Noto was built by the Prince of Villadorata whose family owned one of the most extraordinary masterpieces of Sicilian Baroque, the famous Villadorata Palace. This building is situated in the centre of Noto and its baroque balconies are praised in every art book. The villa was built in the middle of the 19th century as a summer residence of the prince in the higher area of Noto overlooking the whole valley down to the sea. Skillfully renovated by the present owners, the villa stands in a garden which maintains its original, typical Sicilian architecture. In the property there is also a beautiful 17 x 8 metre swimming pool.
The house has been restored with elegance and good taste. The luxury villa covers a single floor: at the entrance there’s a conservatory with a Sicilian majolica table which seats ten; from here you enter the huge drawing room – about 120 square metres in size – with a central fireplace, five sofas, six armchairs, two bookcases and a small writing desk. From the drawing room you eneter the five double bedrooms, all with a private bathroom. Three of the bathrooms have a bath (one of them is a Jacuzzi) and the other two have a shower. Next to the dining room there is the large, modern kitchen with a storeroom and a service bathroom. A small staircase leads to the laundry and to the terrace which covers the entire area of the house. Outside in front of the house there’s a typical Sicilian garden, to the west of the house a beautiful tiled swimming pool with a changing room, small bathroom and an american bar and to the east there’s a wrought-iron gazebo and an outside kitchen with barbecue and wood-burning oven.
Noto is the undisputed capital of Sicilian Baroque. It’s impossible to think about a visit to Sicily without admiring its masterpieces, recently declared a UNESCO world heritage site. A stay in Noto will allow you to visit the wild south-western side of Sicily and its incredible cultural and natural treasures. You can also enjoy some of the most beautiful beaches of the island such as Eloro (ask locals for directions if you want to find it as there are no road signs), the beaches of Marchesa or Cala Mosche inside the Vendicari nature reserve. Spare some time also to visit the numerous baroque towns nearby which include Modica, Ragusa Ibla and Scicli as well as Ortigia (the old centre of Siracusa) and its Greek Theatre, the Ispica Caves, the Cava Grande del Cassibile and many, many others. We suggest that you spend at least two weeks in this astonishing part of Sicily, the minimum time required to enjoy its masterpieces and its inimitable cookery!
For reasons of safety children under the age of six are not permitted unless under the responsibility and strict supervision of parents or accompanying persons. The swimming pool is open from 26th May to 29th September. Use of the swimming pool outside this period may be permitted if requested at least 15 days prior to the beginning of your stay, however, an additional charge will apply (see information on extras).
