In this very special place reality is likely to blend with your imagination and you may well find yourself inside a fairy tale while living in the real world. As you follow a small track through a thick hazelnut wood you reach a charming little stone country house surrounded by scenery of rare beauty. The house is perched on the small cliff of Monte San Salvatore overlooking the entire valley below and the medieval town of Polizzi Generosa. The property is surrounded by chestnut trees, cherry trees, mulberry trees, fig trees, hazelnut trees. There is also a little lovely pool out of stone fed by fresh water from a natural spring. You are in the Madonie Nature Reserve at an altitude of approximately 1,000 metres in the heart of the most verdant and unspoilt part of Sicily.

A typical old Sicilian country house, built at the beginning of the last century by sharecroppers who cultivated the surrounding land. The house has recently been completely restored and transformed into a charming property with an atmosphere somewhere between a fairy tale and an old country house. The property is equipped with all modern comforts which in no way alter the traditional atmosphere of this place. The exquisite taste and elegance of the owners manifests itself in every detail of the traditional Sicilian furniture and the few design items which are found throughout the house. As you pass through the old doorway, you enter a delightful living room with alovely fireplace where people gather in the evenings. From the living room you pass through another old door and enter the large kitchen, the real masterpiece of the house! It was in this room that in the past farmers used to come together to dine and sing to the sound of improvised instruments. Here the essence of this place appears unspoiled: an old enamel stove, a 1960s style fridge, a large stone sink, a tall teak chest of drawers and a small central table all contribute to the harmony of this place and in perfect working order. Next to the kitchen is a dining room with a magnificent large window that offers some magic views at sunset. At the back of the house is a night area which includes a double bedroom with en suite bathroom with bathtub and shower and a splendidly spacious day area that spreads over three levels, with a room with a single wrought iron bed placed under a stone arch (you can also add another single bed in this space); going up five steps on the stone staircase you'll reach the mezzanine floor with a double bed and a wardrobe. This area also has a window door overlooking the garden. The same staircase leads to the loft with a large day window from where you will enjoy fantastic views over the countryside. Through a small door on this floor you can access the terrace (where even today hazelnuts are left to dry in the sun in September). The terrace is also connected to the garden. It is possible to arrange for a single bed in the loft.
Next to this area, on the groundfloor, is the main bathroom with bathtub and shower.

If you are not looking for a house by the sea, then this is undoubtedly an ideal location for your holiday. Those that know the area as well as we do maintain that this is the most beautiful part of Sicily thanks to its nature, its architecture and its culture. It is one of the few places in Sicily where it is still possible to find a glimpse of rural Sicilian life. The Madonie National Park is the most important National Park in Sicily and the beautiful medieval town of Polizzi Generosa is located right in the middle of the Park. Staying inside the Park will provide you with the perfect opportunity to get to know it on foot via one of the many hiking trails that run near to the house or visit its beautiful historic towns such as Polizzi Generosa, Petralia Sottana and Soprana, Castelbuono, Geraci Siculo, Ganci and Sperlinga. Near to Collesano there is a striking 18 hole golf course, the Madonie Golf Club, which is surrounded by ancient olive trees and citrus trees and has a spectacular view of the sea. Inside the Park it is possible to arrange guided tours, hiking in the mountains, horse riding, trekking and mountain biking. For your chldren's entertainment we recommend a day at the Parco Avventura delle Madonie near to Petralia Soprana. If you are enthusiastic about food, there are some excellent restaurants at Polizzi Generosa and nearby Castellana Sicula where you can sample typical Sicilian dishes with a modern twist which are made from local ingredients. Polizzi Generosa is located approximately 30 minutes by car from Cefalù, a charming seaside resort which has some beautiful beaches and around 1 hour by car from Palermo.

Such products are available for use by guests with a contribution of € 10.00 per person. If guests would prefer to use their own biodegradable soaps and detergents, we recommend that they bring them with them as the surrounding shops do not stock these products. The use of non biodegradable soaps and detergents is strictly forbidden in the property.
