Once this beautiful and fascinating country house was a winery where at the beginning of the last century they produced wine with an enormous wooden press, still kept today with loving care in the spacious living room of the main house. The land of the farm, which slopes gently towards the sea, covers an area of 20 hectares and is used to cultivate flowers and plants. The house is surrounded by numerous tall Mediterranean plants which include palm trees, orange and lemon trees and magnolias.
From the terrace of the house you can enjoy a wonderful view of the garden, of the magnificent swimming pool (14 x 7 metres) and in the distance, on clear days, there is a beautiful view of the sea. In the evenings you can enjoy the cool air descending from the slopes of Etna and the Sicilian countryside. At short distance the lively Taormina which is populated in summer with tourists from all over the world.

The house has been partially restored but the charm of the old Sicilian country house remains almost intact. The ground floor is still used as a store room. On the first floor is a very large living room which contains examples of the typical wooden tools used in the past for the production of wine. The room is divided into two areas with sofas and armchairs and a dining area. On the same floor, via a small flight of steps, access is gained to the sleeping area which comprises a bedroom with twin beds and an en-suite bathroom with shower, a bedroom with a double bed (an additional single bed can be provided in this room if required) and en-suite bathroom with bath tub, a bedroom with twin beds and a fireplace with an armchair and a further bedroom with twin beds. All rooms have access to the terrace. The twin beds can be converted into double beds if required. On the same floor there is another bathroom with a shower and washing machine and a country kitchen which retains the traditional Sicilian wood-fired oven and is equipped with a gas cooker, a fridge and a microwave oven. The furnishings are typical of an old aristocratic Sicilian country house and in fact most of the furniture is original. The bathrooms were renewed in the 1980's.

The property is located in the province of Catania, near to Acireale, at the foot of Mount Etna and is very close to the sea and the beaches of the surrounding area which are mostly made up of lava pebbles of varying sizes. A short distance from the house is the small town of Carruba where there is a chemist's, some food stores and a few trattorias. The town itself does not have any particular attractions. The coastline here is covered in thick vegetation and a variety of Mediterranean plants, however, the land is dedicated primarily to the cultivation of citrus. Towards Acireale, below an outcrop called "La Timpa", is the charming seaside town of Santa Maria la Scala which is well maintained and contains several good restauarants with sea views. The house is only a few kilometres from Taormina and Catania and is close to the Etna National Park.

It is necessary to check in before 19:00. For arrivals after 19:00 clients must contact Discover-Sicily in advance and, if authorized, there is an additional charge of Euros 50 payable in cash upon arrival.
The swimming pool is open from 23th April to 29th October. It is possible to use the pool before or after these dates if requested in advance at least 60 days before arrival.
