Cefalù (PA)

This delightful house is located in the most exclusive area of Cefalu where the discerning locals spend their summers, where the villas and houses are all well cared for and where the gardens are rich in Mediterranean vegetation. The area is located in the Kaldura district a short distance outside the town which can be reached in around 15 minutes on foot via a short cut. This is perhaps one of the most fascinating places on the island, both for its view of the Faraglioni rocks and its proximity to a wonderful sandy beach with crystal clear waters which is infrequently used even in summer and can be reached from the house via a small stairway.
The house, which has recently been renovated, is situated in a peaceful location and is surrounded by a well-maintained Mediterranean garden. There is a wonderful sea view from the terrace above the house which is accessed from the garden via a small stone stairway. The villa is tastefully furnished and provides a comfortable environment in which to stay. The ground floor comprises a kitchen/living room with television set and dining area and a small bathroom with hand basin and toilet. A series of four steps leads to a double bedroom with sea view. A separate wooden staircase leads to the lower floor which comprises a passage room with a single bed which leads to a bathroom with shower and, via an archway, to a bedroom with three single beds, two of which are bunk beds.
Cefalù is an ideal place to stay and use as a base from which to visit the central and western areas of Sicily. Along the motorway to Palermo which can be reached in a forty minute drive you will pass the fishing villages of Porticello, Sant’Elia, Santa Flavia, the ruins of the Greek town of Solunto and the architectural masterpieces of Bagheria. On the road towards Messina within ten minutes you will reach Pollina where there is a Club Med and within forty minutes Santo Stefano di Camastra, a small town famous for its ceramics.
Cefalù is also close to the Madonie Nature Reserve. Within a few minutes you are amidst the beautiful nature of the park and can visit the medieval towns of Castelbuono, Collesano (where there is a magnificent eighteen hole golf course), Polizzi Generosa, Petralia Sottana and Soprana, Geraci Siculo and Ganci. In winter the peaks of the local mountains which reach nearly 2,000 metres like Piano Battaglia, a small but famous skiing resort, are all covered with snow.
