The owners of this small house are a couple from the north of Italy who fell in love with Sicily and in particular with the Eolian islands. Their passion was ignited during an expedition to the volcano on the nearby island of Stromboli. They are now considering the possibility of moving permanently to this part of the world (who could blame them) where it is still possible to enjoy life’s simple pleasures: the smell of the sea, the taste of salt crystals on your skin, the aroma of capers and of thyme. These are the sensations, difficult to find elsewhere, that will greet you here.
The house formerly belonged to a local family and was purchased several years ago by the current owners who have since completed a total renovation of the property which leaves intact the original charm of these typical island houses. Passion, sacrifice and a significant financial investment have transformed the house into what you see today: a small corner of paradise, traditional and welcoming on the inside and superb on the outside with its large patio on two sides of the house which has stunning views over the swimming pool (7 x 4 metres) and the blue of the Mediterranean sea. This is undoubtedly the place where you will spend most of your time! The house comprises a bedroom with a double bed and sea views and a bedroom with twin beds. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. A small flight of steps leads to a separate area with a small bedroom with a queen-sized bed and a very small but functional bathroom. This is where the owners sleep – to find out why it is necessary to come here and discover with your own eyes!
The archipelago of the Eolian islands comprises seven islands which are located approximately thirty miles off the north east coast of Sicily. In the past these islands were frequented almost exclusively by visitors from Sicily and were not well known abroad. Despite the fact that tourism is now on the increase, this fact has helped the islands to maintain their original charm to such an extent that the archipelago has been declared a UNESCO world heritage site. The individual islands vary greatly. Lipari is the largest of the islands and makes a good base from which to explore the archipelago. It has several good beaches, the most famous of which is the white beach of pumice stone. Another is the beautiful, long beach of Valle Muria which is located approximately ten minutes on foot from the house and is formed initially with small pebbles and then by finer and finer grains of sand. The village of Lipari maintains its original charm and has plenty of small food shops, fashion shops, pubs and restaurants selling excellent fish such as the mythical “Filippino”. Information about the other islands can be found on the page of our website dedicated to the Eolian islands.
In addition to the items featured on the list of Extras, toilet paper and soap are available to guests.
