This splendid farmer’s cottage belongs to a rich local Baron and was inhabited by his sharecroppers until a few decades ago. The property has been transformed into an elegant country cottage located on the slopes of Mount San Salvatore near to Polizzi Generosa in the heart of the Madonie Nature Reserve. The house offers spectacular views of the town and of the mountains which surround it. On land of around 1 hectare adjoining the property there is a natural spring which feeds crystal clear water into a small natural pool – a wonderful place to take a fresh dip in summer!

The house is immersed in a wood of ancient oak and hazelnut trees. The central part of the house comprises a large area divided into two sections, the living room with fireplace and dining area, a bedroom with double bed, small dressing room and bathroom with shower, a bedroom with a single bed and mezzanine floor constructed in wood where it is possible to locate a further bed, a small bathroom with shower and a kitchen. Via an outside stone staircase, access is gained to a small independent apartment with a terrace, a bedroom with a double bed and a small bathroom with hand basin and WC.

Polizzi Generosa is a medieval town located high in the hills of the Madonie whose ancient charm remains intact. The town is still rarely visited by tourists and offers a wonderful insight into the customs and costumes of the local inhabitants of this area. During the summer, numerous events are held for the benefit of local citizens who have emigrated in recent years but who return to the town for their holidays. There are a number of beautiful churches and monuments in the town and a handful of good restaurants. Tourism in the area is now starting to develop and a spa is expected to open next year. Other charming towns of the Madonie including Petralia, Castelbuono, Geraci, Ganci and Sperlinga are located close by. For lovers of trekking, access to numerous hiking trails can be gained near to the house.

In addition to the items featured on the list of Extras, toilet paper and soap are available to guests. Pure, fresh drinking water from the well is available directly from the taps.
